S. Augustine - Leading my efforts always according to this rule of faith, as much as I could, as much as you gave me power, I sought you; I desired to see by intelligence what I believed; I studied much and suffered much. Lord my God, my only hope, grant me the answer for fear that, through weariness, I will no longer seek you, but always seek your face ardently (Ps 104:4). O you, give me the strength to seek you, you who made me find you and who gave me the hope to find you more and more. Before you is my strength and my weakness: keep my strength, heal my weakness. Before you is my science and my ignorance: where you have opened me, welcome me when I want to enter; where you have closed me, open me when I come to knock. May it be you I remember, you I understand, you I love! Increase in me these three gifts, until you have reformed me completely.
